• How do I setup an electronic signature in AccKnowledge?

Although setting up an electronic signature for printing on checks can usually be done by a client user with system administrator privileges in Accounting Core, M3 stands by to assist with this important and useful feature.

If you are a corporate-level user and would like assistance from M3 technical support setting up a check signature, please submit a support request and have the following items and permissions ready if possible so that what can promptly assist you:

    1. Electronic copy of the check, which can be made using the following steps:
      1. Sign a blank, white piece of paper
      2. Use a black ink pen, not a permanent marker
      3. Sign the normal size signature on the page
        1. We recommend signing at least a few times on the page so that the best quality signature can be chosen by our technicians
      4. Scan the blank document through a scanner (cell phone pictures will not work) making sure auto-cropping is turned off
        1. This preserves the scaling

Note: An example scanned document with signatures is attached to this post for reference

    1. Make sure that your Accounting Core user account has the following permissions:
      1. Enterprise-level access (Access tab->Access->check the top box
        1. Only if signature will be set for entire Enterprise
      2. Modify Check Layout (found under Roles tab->Privileges->Check Writer)
        1. NOTE: Only if the signature object is not turned on, in most cases it is on
      3. The following permissions, found under Roles tab->Privileges->Select Company in User Manager:
        1. Modify Check Signature
        2. Use

If you have any questions or would just like to learn more about this useful feature in Accounting Core, please don’t hesitate to contact M3 for further assistance.

NOTE: Check signature setup is typically assisted within 24-48 business hours from the time of support request.

  • RE: Do I need to install the scanner or printer manufacturer software to work properly with M3?

The most reliable answer to this question is to install the software and drivers that come with your device and to follow the manufacturer’s instructions and recommendations.

Please consider that even though you may be able to print or scan from Windows with your device, this is no guarantee that it will work with M3 if you have not installed the specific software and drivers. Microsoft often assigns a universal driver, such as the Microsoft Enhanced Point and Print Compatibility driver, which does not work well with check printing in M3 for example.

For more information about this or finding out if your printer or scanner is properly setup for use in M3, please contact M3 technical support by either signing in at the top right and creating a support request or email techsupport@m3as.com with any questions you may have. The fill list of M3 approved scanners can also be found here: Approved scanners.

Do I need to install the scanner or printer manufacturer software to work properly with M3?

  • RE: Why do I always have to open the ICA files when using Google Chrome to access M3 applications?

    Solution provided.

  • Why do I always have to open the ICA files when using Google Chrome to access M3 applications?

Q: Why do I always have to open the ICA files when using Google Chrome to access M3 applications?

A: This is the default behavior of Google Chrome for ICA files. The next time you click on an M3 application in the Client Portal, click on the drop-down caret next to the file name. This will bring up a small menu. You should see the option to "Always open files of this type." Check this and then click on the file to open it (See attached image for example). The next time you click on an application for M3, this file should automatically download and launch.

Q: What if I previously checked the option to open ICA files each time?

A: If your browsing data, such as cookies, cache, history, etc was recently cleared, this could have reverted the default behavior in Chrome to prompt each time. This can be corrected by performing the step above again.

If nothing happens after you click on the ICA file, please login and submit a support case and we can assist you.
